I have practiced medicine close to 30 years now. Approximately 20 years ago I came to the realization that our current medical system teaches powerlessness and dependency on medications. It does not empower people to be in control of their health and give them hope.
I then began to reeducate myself in functional medicine also known as integrative or lifestyle medicine. This allows me and my patients to look at the root or underlying cause of their unwellness and then begin empowering them with the tools to reclaim their health. This way they know what they can do to be in control and the CEO of their health.
Life hit me like a hurricane when my uncle, my mentor, medical doctor, MY HERO, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s dementia. Everyone around him was saying “oh it’s just old age” including myself. Unfortunately, this was before the book The End of Alzheimer’s by Dr. Bredesen came out.
I was so excited and empowered to be trained by Dr. Bredesen to help others reverse and prevent what has happened to my uncle.
As you can imagine, he is still alive but gone mentally, and it brings me to tears when I think of him in THAT unfair condition.
You see our brains are supposed to work excellently until our last breath.
We are not supposed to lose our minds as we age. That’s old thinking.
And now you know my why, to help people not end up like my beautiful uncle.
